Bite back at wisdom tooth pain—gently, safely, and in one visit.
At Realtooth, our internationally trained oral surgeons use CBCT-guided planning, minimally invasive techniques, and compassionate care to treat painful or impacted wisdom teeth with faster recovery and predictable results.

What Are Wisdom Teeth?

Wisdom teeth are your third molars, the last adult teeth to come in—usually between ages 17–25. Because space at the back of the jaw is limited, they may tilt, get trapped (impacted), or partially erupt, increasing the risk of infection and food trapping.

At Realtooth, Lucknow, we assess them with OPG and CBCT to map root shape, bone support, and nerve proximity before recommending any treatment.

Common Wisdom Tooth Problems

Impaction

Mesio-angular, vertical, horizontal, or distal impactions may press on the second molar and cause pain or decay.

Pericoronitis

A gum flap over a partially erupted tooth traps food → swelling, bad breath, jaw stiffness.

Tooth Decay & Gum Disease

Hard-to-clean position leads to cavities and periodontal pockets—often affecting the neighboring molar too.

Cysts

Long-standing impactions may form dentigerous cysts, damaging bone/nearby teeth.

Jaw Pain, Headaches & Bite Trauma

Pressure and cheek biting can cause referred pain and discomfort.

Note: Front-tooth crowding has many causes—wisdom teeth aren’t always the culprit. We evaluate your case carefully.

Why Wisdom Teeth Hurt

Wisdom teeth often lack space in jaw bone due to many reasons including family history, to erupt straight. When tilted or partially covered by gum, they cause:

Throbbing pain or pressure
Swollen, tender gums or bad breath from food trapping
Jaw stiffness, ear ache, headaches
Repeated infections (pericoronitis)
Crowding, cavities in adjacent molar, or cysts (in long-standing impactions)
If you have fever, increasing swelling, or difficulty opening your mouth, seek urgent dental care.

Do You Always Need Removal?

Not always. We consider:

  • No symptoms & healthy position: Monitor with periodic X-rays to avoid any unwanted situation in future.
  • Gum flaps catching food: Operculectomy (minor gum reshaping) with LASER is very helpful in minor problems.
  • Recurrent pain/infection, decay, cyst risk, or damage to the 2nd molar: Extraction recommended.

Many people feel much better in 3–5 days and near-normal in 7–10 days, depending on complexity and aftercare.

Antibiotics calm infection but don’t resolve an impaction. Definitive treatment is usually removal or gum reshapingwhen appropriate.

Bleeding, swelling, dry socket, temporary jaw stiffness, and (rarely) nerve-related numbness—we reduce risks with CBCT planning and gentle technique.
