Signs That You Might Need Root Canal Treatment

Root canals are used to repair and save teeth that have become decayed or infected. When the pulp of the tooth, composed of blood vessels and nerves, is damaged, it needs to be removed and the inside of the tooth will be cleaned and sealed.

The health of teeth is a mirror to our overall health so its better not to ignore serious dental issues and seek treatments as soon as possible.

1.PROLONGED SENSITIVITY TO HOT AND COLD

Intake of hot coffee or tea can suddenly cause a sudden surge of pain shooting through your mouth showing some advanced problem going in your mouth.
Due to overbrushing, attrition caused by hard brushing, or acidic erosion due to intake of carbonated drinks, acidic and sugary foods, first enamel layer then the dentine layer starts wearing off leading to severe sensitivity and when erosion reaches pulp it results in sensitivity to hot and also pain.

Deep caries/cavities are also a cause of painful sensitivity as the infection reaches the pulp chamber of the tooth.

For temporary relief over the counter, available medicated pastes may help but their long-term solution is root canal treatment.

2.DISCOLORED TOOTH

It may occur due to
1.Old trauma to the tooth which results in crushing the nerves and blood vessels inside the tooth causing it to discolor.

2.Food habits, exposure of enamel to certain foods and drinks can cause permanent discoloration which looks bad but can be treated with RCT.

3.SUDDEN ACUTE PAIN

Sudden/acute pain usually becomes more severe when a person lies down or at the night. Common causes are tooth decay which occurs due to long-lasting caries /cavity or infection.
Also sometimes biting on a hard food can cause sudden tooth fracture leading to acute pain

4.ABSCESS (PUS) IN GUM TISSUE

Swelling in gums, dull pain on chewing food, and sensitivity may be an indication of an abscess beneath the tooth. If we do not treat the tooth and the bacteria that reside in infected pulp travels through your tooth’s roots into your jaw and gum tissue, it leads to abscesses, which require urgent care.

The resulting infection in or around the root of the tooth may or may not be painful but any ongoing symptoms should be tended by an endodontist who specializes in treating infected teeth and pulp.

5.DEEP DECAY

Tooth decay may occur due to poor oral hygiene, intake of sugary foods, frequent snacking, and bacterial accumulation. Decay leads to small holes in the tooth called cavities /caries, which become wider and leads to pain, swelling, and sometimes infection indicating RCT to save the tooth.

If you feel that you are experiencing any of the mentioned indications don’t worry just call your dentist and book an appointment for Root Canal Treatment. With the right specialist and advanced equipment, you can get a painless experience and that too in a single visit.
If you keep ignoring these signs it may result in deep infections involving bone and also lead to tooth loss. Our most patients say that the root canal procedure performed here at REALTOOTH was painless and were happy to get complete RCT done in a single visit.
